Lync for Mac

Microsoft Lync is a real-time communications environment offering instant messaging, audio-video, screen sharing, and web conferencing capabilities. It can be accessed through a browser-based Web App, or through installed clients on computers, smartphones, and tablets.

Dominican University owned equipment - Download & Install

If you would like Lync for Mac installed on a Dominican University owned device, please submit an installation request with IT Help Desk at helpme@dom.edu or 708-524-6888.

Non Dominican University owned equipment - Download & Install

  1. Using Safari, Click here to Download Lync 2011 from Microsoft. 
  2. When the download completes, double click the Lync_Mac_2011_All.dmg file. 
  3. Double click the Lync Installer icon, and then click Continue on the "Welcome" screen when prompted. 
  4. Click Continue on the "Software License" screen, review the agreement, and click Agree
  5. Click Continue on the "Select a Destination" screen, and then click Install.

Configure & Connect

  1. Launch Microsoft Lync
  2. Review the license agreement and click Accept
  3. Click Don't Change when prompted regarding both "Telephone Calls" and "Conferences." 
  4. Enter your DU Email address for both "Email Address" and "User ID".
    Example: username@dom.edu or username@my.dom.edu
  5. Click Sign In, and then click Accept if prompted with "Verify Certificate."

Troubleshooting

If you attempt to log in and received an error indicating that "Sign in to Microsoft Lync failed," Please do the following:

  1. Click Help in the upper-right corner of the screen, choose Check for Updates, and Install available updates. 
  2. Quit Lync. 
  3. Restart Lync and try to sign in again.
